Vice President Highlights MSME Sector as Pillar of India's Economy, Urges Adoption of Modern Technology

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan said the MSME sector is the backbone of India's economy, contributing nearly 50 per cent of the country's exports. Addressing MSME Day 2026 in New Delhi, he praised first-generation entrepreneurs and urged businesses to adopt modern technology to enhance productivity, production and quality.

New Delhi: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday said that the strength of any economy across the world lies in the contribution of its Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, describing it as a key driver of economic growth and entrepreneurship.

Addressing an event on MSME Day 2026 in New Delhi, the Vice President said that India's MSME sector reflects the courage, determination and entrepreneurial spirit of first-generation entrepreneurs. He stated that the sector has emerged as a vital contributor to the country's economic progress by creating opportunities and fostering innovation.

Highlighting the sector's economic significance, C. P. Radhakrishnan said that the MSME sector contributes nearly 50 per cent of India's total exports while consistently maintaining high-quality standards. He emphasized that the sector continues to strengthen the country's global trade presence through its sustained performance and commitment to quality.

The Vice President also called upon entrepreneurs to adopt modern technology to further improve productivity, production and quality. He stressed that technological advancement is essential for enhancing the competitiveness of the MSME sector and ensuring its continued contribution to India's economic development.
